A Long Ride to a New Place

A Long Ride to a New Place is a solo journaling game about looking out the window and thinking about your life while on a long train journey. It is a game which provides prompts and questions to invoke the feelings and thoughts you might have while looking out across the landscape as you roll past in a carriage. It is about how journeys affect your thoughts, and the (in my opinion) unique effect of train rides have on you. The purpose of the game is to act as a character study, to ask questions and explore the life of a fictional character.

You can use it as a way to dive into the mind of a character you are writing, think about your own life, as a way to craft backgrounds for characters in other role-playing games, or as a pure imagination and writing game.

This game is heavily inspired by tarot, and the game also functions as a tarot spread for exploring journeys (both physical and otherwise). An explanation of the spread is given at the end of the PDF.
